The Future of Destiny
We’re building the future of Destiny with Codename: Frontiers. Earlier this week, Tyson Green, the Game Director for Destiny 2 and Alison Lührs, the D2 Narrative Director, shared some of our plans for Destiny 2 in a new dev blog. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, head over to our blog.
In addition to sharing our vision for the future of Destiny, we also shared Dev Insight deep dives for various innovations coming with Codename: Frontiers.
We’ll be building upon this section over the next few months with breakdowns of features and changes coming to Destiny. We’re excited to share more news of Destiny’s path ahead with you all.
New Dungeon on October 11
In just little under a month, on October 8, Episode: Revenant will launch. We have tons of new details to share with you before that time, but today we wanted to focus on just one bit: the new dungeon. Launching on Friday, October 11 at 10:00 AM PT the new dungeon will feature a Contest Mode for the first time ever. So, gather your favorite fireteam, save the date, and we’ll have more details for you in the weeks ahead!
Exotic Mission: Encore
The new Exotic Mission: Encore takes us to the newly terraformed core of Nessus. There we discovered Maya’s truly disturbing plans, took on her evolving Vex forces, and snatched a powerful weapon from the claws of our enemy. Totally worth it, if you ask us. If you haven’t had a chance to play around in the new mission, here are some things you can look forward to when you jump in.
Discover Maya’s Secrets Within
Maya has been working beneath the core on a secret project. Stepping into her secret lab below Nessus requires learning to utilize Vex technology, taking risks, jumping and hopping through a few Vex portals, and fighting some fearsome enemies. Nothing a fireteam of veteran Guardians can't take on.
New Exotic Weapon
Completing Encore grants the new Exotic Void Auto Rifle, Choir of One, our first Auto Rifle to ever use Special ammo. We've heard it's really strong in close combat, so if you haven't obtained it yet, all content and secrets are now available, so you can go through everything the mission has to offer.
A Few Secrets Await
After earning Choir of One, you’ll have a host of secrets to discover to earn all its catalysts and additional perks. Complete research specimen NES007 from Failsafe and visit Banshee to get everything started.
You’ll then find even more secret puzzles to complete and collectibles hidden throughout the mission. Help complete Failsafe's collection in the HELM along with a few Triumphs. We've also heard whispers of a very cool, secret emblem that perceptive and speedy Guardians can add to their collection.
Exploration and experimentation will be key to uncovering the secrets that await you in Encore. You have plenty of time, so start exploring and uncover them all.
Bungie Foundation is Headed To TwitchCon!
Pack your shades and floaties, we’re headed to sunny San Diego. The Bungie Foundation will be at TwitchCon this year, Sept. 20-22, and we’ve got something special in store for those in attendance. By finding the Bungie Foundation team at the convention and making an in-person donation, you’ll earn the exclusive Magnetosonic Waves emblem, available only IRL during TwitchCon. This is your one and only chance to grab this limited-time emblem, so make sure to track us down and say hi while you’re there!
Make sure you’re following the Bungie Foundation on social media for real-time updates on where we’ll be posting up at the convention. Don’t miss out – swing by, support a great cause, and walk away with the Magnetosonic Waves emblem. Stay classy, Guardians. We’ll see you at TwitchCon!
#SwordLogic Moments
To celebrate our recent Sword event, we asked you to show us your best moves with a Sword, and you didn't disappoint. Here are our favorites! Not a single One Thousand Voices in sight, you little rascals. You've all earned both Photoionization and the MOTW emblems.

Skywatch Enemy Density
We've heard your feedback regarding Engram drop rate in the Skywatch zone of the Cosmodrome. To alleviate this problem and to allow the Accidental Generosity Triumph required for the Legend Title to be completed in a more timely manner, we are increasing enemy density in Skywatch in a future update. In the meantime, there are still several weeks left to earn access to the Legend pin, and the Legend Title will be available until Codename: Apollo ships in 2025.
Veteran Legend Armor Ornaments
Players who have earned the Veteran Legend armor sets available as part of the Legend Title can also get ornaments for all armor pieces at no cost when visiting the Special Delivery Terminal that sits between the Gunsmith and the Cryptarch in the Tower. This is applicable to all three classes.
We Love Exos
Maya has mistreated many Exo and Exo minds during this Episode, so it's fitting we honor our friends in a chrome body with an amazing piece of art, like this one below.
10 Years of Destiny
We don't know what's more impressive, capturing the whole journey of the Destiny franchise in just one video or not having lost all these amazing images after ten years. Anyway, outstanding work. Thank you for this.
That’s everything we have for this busy week in Destiny. We’ve had a huge helping of both the past and the future this week and hopefully there is something exciting there for everyone. We’re checking out all the feedback you’ve provided on the details around Codename: Frontiers. As we mentioned, we’ll be sharing more details in the future and we’ll be looking to answer questions we’re seeing out there so please keep sharing your thoughts.
We’ll be back next week with more details on what’s coming in Episode: Revenant.
