Happy launch day, Guardians! Destiny 2: Renegades is now available to play.
Today also marks the start of Season: Lawless which covers the next six months of content. While we know you are all eager to jump in and play, we thought having a launch blog where you could check out all the information available could come in handy. So, here we go!

A New Campaign
Renegades is a Destiny 2 story inspired by Star Wars. You'll find points of similitude as you play, but you'll also learn a lot more about where the Destiny 2 narrative is going through this new chapter in the Fate Saga.
Our latest campaign starts after the events of The Edge of Fate. The mysterious entities known as The Nine have started unfolding their plans for humanity and they involve a new Cabal faction, the Barant Imperium. To make things worse, a mysterious figure that calls himself Dredgen Bael is leading the charge. It's time to rise to the challenge again and save humanity.
Content Calendar
While we work on creating new updates and content for Destiny 2, we wanted to provide a preview of the changes coming to Destiny 2 that starts with Renegades and continues with Update 9.5.0.1 which goes live the week after launch. The team has been focused on continuing to make improvements to Power and progression, quality-of-life updates, and the start of a new weekly ritual alongside brand-new activities and systems with Renegades. We will share our ongoing plans with a roadmap in 2026.
The Lawless Frontier
Renegades brings a new activity designed for replayability and scalable challenges: the Lawless Frontier. Build reputation with shady Syndicate factions through the new Notoriety system to take on a range of solo or three-person missions commissioned by three distinct factions. Job types include Smuggling and Sabotage and you can invade players in both of them for additional gear. Don't forget to use your Renegades Abilities to survive and bend the rules of combat.
New Weapons and Gear to Earn
It wouldn't be a new Destiny 2 expansion without tons of new weapons and armor to loot. Here's a first look at Blasters, a totally new type of weapon that uses a heat-based ammo system as well as a preview of the new Exotics.
New Equilibrium Dungeon
On December 13, the new Equilibrium dungeon will be available to everyone who purchases Renegades or Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy edition. Equilibrium will have unique rewards and weapons for players who complete it and will feature a Contest Mode Dungeon Race for anyone seeking a greater challenge. You can tune into the official Equilibrium Dungeon Race stream with Evanf1997 and CBGray starting at 6 AM PT with the pre-show and the official race kicking off at 9 AM PT. Those who tune in for 30 minutes on official Twitch channels will earn the Paranoia Pink emblem through Twitch Drops and CBGray will be giving away the same emblem to viewers on YouTube.

The Orders System
Orders are a replacement for bounties and Seasonal Challenges that offer a more approachable set of objectives that reward players consistently for their time spent in Destiny 2. Orders are part of the Seasonal Hub launching along with Renegades. They can drop with Common, Legendary, and even Exotic rarities, grant rewards without having to visit an NPC when completed, and adapt to your playstyle on the go.

Vanguards Alerts
Vanguard Alerts is a new feature aimed at reigniting a Destiny 2 ritual. They feature a range of activities available to players at all skill levels through different playlists in addition to the new Grandmaster Vanguard Alert and raid and dungeon challenges. The goal of this system is to bring back the feeling of logging into Destiny 2 for the week and immediately knowing what activities to start with to get you and your fireteam that good loot, giving you an opportunity to have fun while building up to harder activities.

Returning Players Buffs
If you are a returning player, first of all: welcome back! Second, great news: you have powerful rewards and XP buffs waiting for you so you can catch up faster while also granting some goodies to your friends.

300 More Vault Space Slots
Among many other quality-of-life updates coming with Renegades, we have revamped the filtering system in the Vault while also increasing the number of items it can hold. We are adding 300 more slots so you can now store up to 1000 items.
Exotic Ornament Customization
Another update is coming to your Armor Customization screen. Starting today, you can equip any Exotic Armor Ornament on any other Exotic of the same class and in the same slot.
Seasonal Events
The new season starting today will include many or our recurring events, starting with the Dawning. Our winter-inspired celebration will start on December 16 and brings new Armor cosmetics as well as many weapons to earn for a limited time. Don't miss it!
Watch Renegades Streams to Earn Twitch Drops
As part of today's celebrations, we have Twitch Drops available just for tuning in to an eligible Destiny 2: Renegades stream!
Watch an opted-in Destiny 2 streamer for 30 minutes between December 2 starting at 9AM PT until December 12 at 9AM PT to receive the Unwritten Patience emblem. If you watch for four hours, you will also receive the Sherwood Wander Exotic Ship!
