Welcome to Havenhythe

Posted by on

A brand new landmass arrives in RuneScape today! Welcome to Havenhythe.

Found to the east of Morytania, Havenhythe is a quiet and mysterious place with a long history behind it. Once home to ancient civilisations, strange magic, and stories long forgotten, the island has mostly been left to time.

Your journey begins with a vision when you visit the the Rusty Anchor in Port Sarim. A warning of something stirring beyond the sea. Before long you will find yourself setting sail to see what is really waiting there.

Havenhythe marks the beginning of a brand new story that will unfold across the year. It's also a chance for us to lean back into something that sits right at the heart of RuneScape. Exploration, strange characters, smaller grounded adventures, and plenty of things for players to discover for themselves.

If you prefer to go in and explore by yourself with as little information as possible, stop here and jump into the game. If you're keen to see what you can expect, read on!

Whether you are here for the story, skilling, exploration or combat, Havenhythe is built to feel like a place you return to throughout your journey.

What is Havenhythe?

Havenhythe is designed to feel like a natural part of Gielinor. The goal is not to create a piece of content you complete once and move on from. Instead it's a place that becomes part of your journey through the world.

Think of places like Varrock or Falador. Locations you return to again and again as your adventure continues.

This first release lays the foundations for the island. Over time Havenhythe will continue to grow as more stories, activities and discoveries are added throughout the year. It's also been built with space in mind, so as RuneScape continues to evolve, Havenhythe can grow alongside it without feeling crowded or boxed in.

For now, your journey begins with a small village on the coast.

Welcome to Wendlewick

Your first stop in Havenhythe is Wendlewick, a small village that sits along the islands shoreline.

This is where you will meet the locals who call Havenhythe home. Among them are the village leaders Adam, Zeke and Esther, each playing a role in the community that has formed here.

Wendlewick isn't just somewhere to find quests. As you explore the village and the surrounding area, you will find small tasks, characters to meet, and stories that help bring the place to life.

Some of these are easy to stumble across. Others may take a little more curiosity to uncover.

Exploring Havenhythe

Step beyond the village and you will start to see just how much space Havenhythe has to explore.

Dense forests, hidden shrines, strange caves and quiet stretches of wilderness all sit across the island. Some areas feel peaceful. Others might give the sense that something is not quite right.

For this first release you'll be able to explore several key parts of the island, including the nearby forests, the Hill Giant settlement known as Hollow Hill, and other locations scattered across the landscape.

We won't spoil everything here though. Havenhythe is meant to reward players who take the time to explore it themselves.

New Activities Across the Island

Havenhythe brings a variety of new activities with it, including a major expansion to the Hunter skill.

Across the island you'll find new creatures to track, new hunting methods, and new materials that feed into other skilling updates. Some activities focus on active gameplay while others offer more relaxed ways to train as you explore the land.

There are also new skilling locations, resources and systems spread across the island that help make Havenhythe feel like a living part of the game world.

We will let players discover many of these for themselves once they arrive.

New Combat Encounters

For those looking for a fight, Havenhythe introduces a couple of new boss encounters aimed at early to mid levels.

These fights are designed to help players learn key combat mechanics such as reading enemy attacks, using protection prayers and reacting to boss abilities.

They also introduce some unique rewards that will become useful as players continue their adventures on the island.

The Story of Havenhythe

Your arrival at Havenhythe begins with a strange vision and quickly leads to the first quests of a new storyline.

Across two main story quests you'll begin uncovering what's happening on the island and why the people of Wendlewick are beginning to worry about what lies beyond their borders.

Along the way you'll meet new characters, learn more about the islands past, and begin to hear whispers of a growing threat known as The Sanguine.

Alongside these story quests you'll also find a couple of smaller standalone adventures. These lean into the lighter side of RuneScape storytelling and bring a bit of the games classic humour to the island.

This Is Only the Beginning

This first release is just the start for Havenhythe.

There are still so many unanswered questions about the island, its past, and the forces that may be stirring beneath the surface. As the year continues, players will begin to uncover more of these mysteries through future updates and quests.

If you pay close attention while exploring, you might even start spotting hints of what is still to come.

Welcome To Havenhythe

Havenhythe is now available in RuneScape.

Set sail, explore a new land, meet its people and see what secrets are waiting to be uncovered.

Your journey to Havenhythe is only just beginning.
